In depth

Verdict

Jim Bolger has been unable to find a race for Saafarr, who dropped back to 7f at Galway but just couldn't find the pace to get past the odds-on Sikandarabad. He deserves a change of fortune but may have to settle for second best again behind BIG BEN. Aidan O'Brien's Galileo colt, a half-brother to the brilliant Attraction, made a promising start behind Bolger's Irish Derby third Stellar Mass over 1m4f here in June and, with that under his belt, can take this. Tree of Knowledge is another Ballydoyle entry and she shaped with real promise at Leopardstown earlier this month while Dermot Weld's newcomer Massayan is a half-brother to a Listed winner.
