Verdict

THE MAJOR GENERAL landed a maiden over the track and trip then a Listed contest over 1m4f at Leopardstown. He went to Royal Ascot for the King George V Handicap but got no sort of run and though having to concede lumps of weight here is taken to get back to winning ways. Qatari Hunter has really found his form and completed a double here and at Gowran, though he's up 10lb for his latest victory. Alishan overcame trouble in-running to land a Roscommon maiden and wouldn't be coming here unless thought capable of a big run. Jefferson Davis was a long way behind Qatari Hunter on this track but found soft ground to his liking over a mile at Leopardstown last week. Crafted Jewel has been making steady progress resulting in an impressive victory over a mile at Cork and, if staying the extra, looks a real threat off this mark.
