Verdict

CLONGOWES had been threatening a victory before coming good in the Ulster Derby at Down Royal on Saturday. This looks tougher with a 7lb rise to contend with but he's in such good form that he's taken to complete a quick double. Gold Spinner has looked potentially pattern race material in his last two starts so is unlikely to go down without a fight and, like Navan maiden winner So You Thought, could go on to better things. Gino Severini was in tremendous form in the spring and will appreciate the conditions, though he's 14lb higher than his victory at Naas.
