Verdict

Mark Johnston's handicappers have been in good form at Goodwood this week but his Fennell Bay has rather gone off the boil since winning at Thirsk in June. Lahaag may still be a few pounds too high and Awake My Soul is creeping up the weights, though David O'Meara's four-year-old hasn't put a foot wrong so far this year. Silvery Moon won the Carlisle Bell in June and is equally effective over this longer trip while a case can certainly be made for the three-year-olds Centurius and Winterlude. But the assessor has opened the door a little for ART SCHOLAR who is now a pound lower than when winning last year's November Handicap here. He gets a tentative vote with Come On Blue Chip best of the rest.
