In depth

Verdict

In the finale, Dr Sharp is selected ahead of Inchnadamph and Kasthari. Dr Sharp bounced back to form last time when second at Newmarket. It was a race that he had won the previous year and was unlucky to come up against an improving rival that day in Double Banded. He has won from today's mark and at this track so his claims seem very fair. Bulwark is well weighted based on his best 2006 form but recent efforts have been tame, while Kasthari loves this track - he has won over fences and hurdles here and even dead heated in the 2004 Doncaster Cup - and is still capable of running well from his current mark. Finally, the Cesarewith fifth Inchnadamph is just five pounds above a winning mark and is another that is not ruled out of a good run. For the selection, though, we return to Dr Sharp.
