The stand side looked the place to be on the opening day, so it may pay to stick with those who are drawn high. Golden Spectrum would certainly have a chance if he could reproduce his effort behind Freya's Dream at Sandown, while another three-year-old Birjand, is better than she has shown so far. She has several decent efforts to her name, notably when giving 10lbs to subsequent winner Toldya. She stays this trip well, will not mind the ground and looks the one to beat. Platinum Duke has been a revelation this year winning nine times, seven of those on turf. He has been done no favours by the draw here and is passed over. David Evans' Deceitful is an admirably tough gelding and shows no signs of going over the top after a long season. He probably turned in his best effort to date last time, when just behind the useful Attache in a Classified Stakes race at Haydock last weekend. He would be hard to beat on that effort. Definite Guest, without a win for over a year, has shown bits and pieces recently and he could go well at a big price.
