Verdict

Three-year-olds have won 10 of the last 11 renewals so it's probably safe to put a line through older mares Boastful and Switcher while Irish raider Bethany Bay looks to have a mountain to climb at the weights. Nargys appears to be going backwards but Annecdote goes from strength-to-strength, beating WINNING EXPRESS, The Gold Cheongsam and Nargys in this grade at Goodwood last month. Ed McMahon's filly enjoys a 3lb turnaround in the weights with Jonny Portman's charge, however, and that should be enough to take revenge for her three-quarters-of-a-length defeat at the Sussex track. She gets the nod though Maureen has her sights lowered and will be a danger, despite a penalty. She makes much more appeal than stablemate Zurigha and Ghasabah.
