David Brown has some good two-year-olds and reports suggest Hard Divorce, who changed hands for more than £200,000, is right up there with the best of them. Double Bluff, from a family of stayers, is another newcomer to keep on the right side while Fast Delivery was a £55,000 yearling. But ALPINE RETREAT carries the first colours of Godolphin and it will take a smart performance to prevent this expensive US-bred colt from going one better than at Kempton, where he was just undone by his lack of experience. Pupil will almost certainly prove better than he showed at Newbury and looks the best of the others who have had a run.
