In depth

Formwatch

Dancing Mystery Fit from a recent spin at Wolverhampton, where he was not disgraced. Won here in October and not badly treated. Will not mind the conditions, and cannot be ruled out.

Further Outlook (USA) Best form over six furlongs, though he has won at five. Handles most ground, but his fitness must be taken on trust.

Monkston Point (IRE) Classy gelding whose form deteriorated towards the end of last season, but he is probably best when fresh and if there is plenty of rain he would really come into the reckoning.

Compton Banker (IRE) Course and distance winner who tends to start slowly and come with a storming late run. Chance if fit, but his best form has been on decent ground so if the ground gets soft that could go against him.

Galloway Boy (IRE) One of four David Nicholls horses in the race, this one is having his first run for connections. His form in Ireland was not great last year so he's probably best watched for now.

Pepperdine (IRE) Useful sort for this type of race but hasn't shown any form for a while. Best efforts have come over another furlong, so may be using this to blow away the cobwebs.

Night Flight Has gone well in this type of race but the handicapper has not been doing any favours, and he probably needs to be dropped a few pounds before he can win again.

Smokin Beau Recent winner at Wolverhampton, so should lack nothing for fitness but he faces a stiff task on his turf form.

Afaan (IRE) Another who is fit from the all-weather, and has been running quite well. Would have claims as long as the ground does not get too soft.

Bandanna Progressive filly last season, starting with a win in a seller and finishing with a good fourth in handicap company at Kempton. Seems to handle any ground, but evidence suggests she may be best over another furlong.

Singsong Hasn't won for two years and offered little encouragement in a couple of all-weather runs this season

Get Stuck In (IRE) Won on heavy ground here in November and a more than capable sort, although there is a likelihood he may just need the run today.

Mizhar (USA) One or two decent efforts this winter, including a win at Wolverhampton last month. But not the most consistent and looks quite exposed.

Shouf Al Badou (USA) His only turf win came over a mile, and while he has good all-weather form it seems likely he will need further to show his best.

Pure Coincidence Hasn't won for a long time and would be a surprise if he did so here.

Chispa Has been in great heart on the all-weather this winter but faces a stiff task against older horses on this course.

Regal Song (IRE) Won at Newcastle in October but behind a couple of today's rivals since then and faces a stiff task at these weights.
