In depth

Verdict

Boynagh Joy's only success in 16 starts came here last November and she again showed her liking for the surface when runner-up to Moonlight Rock earlier this month. She is obviously in good heart and looks certain to go well. Cristal Island was racing off a mark of 93 just over a year ago and had dropped to 55 when scooting at Wexford last month. She is still well handicapped with a 5lbs rise though her three efforts on this surface have produced poor performances. DIAMOND FIRE has won twice from nine starts on sand and almost made it three when narrowly beaten by Under Review at Laytown recently. That was over 6f but he's won over today's C&D from just 1lb lower and can get back on the winning trail. Minarini is extremely well handicapped on his form in the UK despite still being a maiden after 17 starts and his new connections should have him spot-on for this.
