In depth

Verdict

Trainer David Lanigan has his string in great shape and his WANNABE KING can follow up a recent Windsor success here, while Emirates Roadshow and Roar Of Applause are also short-listed. The selection is raised 6lbs for a three length defeat of Cape Hawk over a similar trip to this and should be fine on this good ground. The extra half furlong is not likely to be an issue and we should side with him again. Godolphin entrant Emirates Roadshow is 3lbs higher than his only success but he will find this a little easier than when put firmly in his place behind Firebet at Newmarket last time. The team are red-hot at present, so there may be a little more to come from 1lb lower this time. Roar Of Applause would ideally prefer faster ground to be seen to best effect. This is his optimum trip, but he is 1lb higher than when beaten comfortably enough last time and we can take him on. Green Agenda showed a bit of spark at Thirsk but would also want the ground to dry more, though can't be ruled out from a mark of 75, while Cut And Thrust could also have a say if coming out again just 24 hours after a Kempton run. Wannabe King can be king here.
