ASTRODONNA was impressive in context at Yarmouth last time and can follow-up under a penalty, while Eastern Gift, Ogre and Cordell are considered. The selection's success last time proved a triumph for persistence for trainer Mark Tompkins, but his filly goes very well over this trip and on good ground or slower. 6lbs extra here will make it tougher, but she has gone close from a similar mark in the past and now in form we will follow her. Eastern Gift may again find one too good, after finishing runner-up at both Brighton and Newbury. The drop back in trip should be fine, though quicker ground would be ideal. Ogre loves it here and seeks a hat-trick at the track, though countering that, six of her last seven wins have come in claimers, and she is not as effective when handicapping. Cordell is now 12lbs lower than when last winning in this sphere, but before getting too excited, his only win in seven subsequent runs came in a Brighton claimer last time and we can oppose. Northern Spy is 9lbs higher than when winning a course and distance handicap a couple of starts back but has a bit to prove after being well beaten last time. Driven and Sarah Park should both get competitive, but Astrodonna is the one for us.
