In depth

Verdict

Patavium Prince has done little wrong of late, without winning, will not mind the underfoot conditions and gets the vote to resume winning ways ahead of Spearit and Sleeping Storm. The last mentioned is still 3lbs higher than when scoring at Newbury last month but has run well off similar marks of late and is entitled to be thereabouts again. Robert Cowell's Overwing showed at Folkestone last time that she handles cut in the ground perfectly well and the daughter of Fasliyev cannot be discounted. Willie Muir has his string in good form so Xaluna Bay has to be considered but she has yet to confirm that she handles a softer surface and of more interest may be Spearit, who has rediscovered some decent form of late. Any further rain would lessen his claims though and a safer bet looks to be the rejuvenated Patavium Prince.
