In depth

Verdict

WELLS DE LUNE is penalised for earlier wins but finished runner-up in one of these events at Bangor earlier in the month to the higher-rated Barrakilla. This looks less competitive and Mickey Bowen’s charge gets the vote. Deadly Sting has every chance on these terms but hasn’t won over regulation fences since 2016 while Big Water returns to the larger obstacles for the first time since 2015. Tugboat returned to action with a third in one of these events at Ludlow but has a stack to find with the selection on these terms.
