Verdict

Three recent winners in the field and PSYCHIC ABILITY is selected from them to see off Sumerian and Warning Song. The Kingmambo colt cost 200 000 guineas as a juvenile and has a near impeccable pedigree. A wide margin winner of an apparently competitive Nottingham maiden, there is every reason to believe that he will have improved for a winter on his back and it could be highly significant that Frankie Dettori comes here for the ride. Sumerian is quite a nervous character who needs a specially designed hood to get into the stalls. Easy to back at Brighton, she defied the market drift to score though will need to have improved in order to win this. Warning Song flew home late to pilfer a prize from Wilfred Pickles. Bearing in mind that that horse is a long standing maiden, the decision to lift Amanda Perrett's charge 4lbs seems a little harsh on balance. Mark Twain won a maiden for Aidan O'Brien as a juvenile but the Ballydoyle team are unlikely to have lost too much sleep as his form in Britain has gone backwards at a rate of knots. Psychic Ability looks the most open to progression and we side with him accordingly.
