Verdict

Sam Bass was beaten a short-head by Sportsmaster at Roscoomon last month but was almost eight lengths behind that winner when they met again over this trip at the Curragh a couple of weeks later. Zarzal has been beaten too far in both starts to have much faith in but Monte Carlo, by Montjeu out of a staying mare, will be much better suited by this trip than the mile he ran over at Dundalk in November. Dermot Weld has been quick to apply the blinkers to HARANGUE, who looked in need of the run behind Cherokee Brave at the Curragh and should have come on enough to take this.
