Verdict

With so many progressive and lightly-raced types engaged, it's a tough one to fathom but RETIREMENT PLAN did everything right when landing his maiden at Doncaster and hasn't been hit too hard by the assessor so gets the vote. Northern Meeting was sent to Catterick to lose his maiden tag and he did it nicely and there's much more to come while Silver Dixie looked full of promise at Newmarket though that was on fast ground. Double Discount couldn't quite hold Enzaal at Chester but was conceding 7lb and a stronger gallop would have aided his cause so he looks a threat despite a big weight. Goodwood Mirage won here in June and was by no means disgraced in a strong Newmarket handicap subsequently.
