    Verdict

Counterpunch, Clear Sailing and Kala Dancer are three to shortlist here and Counterpunch can make a winning debut. John Gosden's Maraakez is an interesting newcomer being a son of Kalanisi out of a Rainbow Quest mare who is a half sister to the classy miler Mullins Bay and any market move should be heeded, but Gosden's three year olds can be expected to improve with racing. Another son of Kalanisi, Lady Herries' Kala Dancer, is expected to improve for his promising debut fifth in a decent field at Salisbury. He went off an unconsidered 50-1 shot that day but was staying on well in the closing stages. Amanda Perrett's Clear Sailing, owned by Khaled Abdulla, is an interesting contender. A son of Selkirk, out of a classy French performer and from the family of Tillerman, Clear Sailing ran green on his Folkestone bow but was doing all his best work at the finish. This extra furlong should help. The Godolphin team is to be respected just now with eight winners in the past fortnight, and they introduce a son of Halling out of a high class German mare, named Counterpunch. The stable's runners are normally fit enough to score first time at this stage of the season and Counterpunch can fight off his rivals.
