Verdict

Taranaki can land the finale at the expense of Millennium Force, Grizedale, Magic Rush and Scarlet Flyer. Taranaki has twice been successful over the course-and-distance in the past, and has no problems with a bit of juice in the ground, so is the pick on the strength of some sterling efforts this season. Peter Cundell's eight-year-old has teamed up well with Ashley Hamblett over the past couple of months, and it was the fast ground at Lingfield that contributed to his failed hat-trick bid more than anything else. With conditions more in his favour today, he can bounce back. Millennium Force showed his first worthwhile form of the year when dead-heating for second at Newbury 11 days ago, and is undoubtedly well handicapped on last year's form. He rates a threat as does the other dead-heater in that race, Grizedale. Polytrack winner Magic Rush is only lightly-raced and will appreciate the step back up to seven furlongs, but Scarlet Flyer may find find the ground against him. Nevertheless he came with a rattle at Newbury last time and would be dangerous to rule out entirely. Taranaki remains in fine form though, and is the one side with.
