Verdict

CONDUIT is preferred here to Hebridean and Scintillo. The selection hails from Freemason Lodge who have had their name on the roll of honour twice in the last seven years and Conduit can make up for an unlucky defeat in the King Edward VII Stakes. He narrowly failed to get up having come with a late charge but Frankie Dettori and Campanologist had already flown. This may well develop into a tactical affair but his pilot is unlikely to make the same mistake again. Hebridean trailed in last in that heat but O'Brien's runners simply cannot be ignored; he is better than that but has to concede weight all round and could come up short again. Donegal stayed on well to deny Bouguereau at Newmarket but the latter may be able to reverse the form on this faster surface but they are up in grade this afternoon and may find that some of their opponents have more pace at this trip at this level. Alan Devonshire has a bit to find but Scintillo proved his stamina when second in a Listed contest over eleven furlongs here in May. It would appear that he has been put away for this race since then and he looks capable of running a big race with conditions in his favour but he will do well to get the better of the selection.
