Umpact started off with an easy victory after arriving from France but hasn't quite made the expected progress and Tony Martin now tries him in a tongue strap. MIDNIGHT OIL easily won a Cork maiden before being beaten by Art Of Logistics at Fairyhouse. He was a bit tapped for speed on the latter occasion and it would be no surprise to see Davy Russell set a strong gallop here and hopefully hold on. After landing a Downpatrick maiden in January, Sizing Jo'Burg couldn't handle the step up to Grade 2 company at Naas in January and may need further while Starkie also found Grade 2 company beyond him last time and has to concede weight all round due to his earlier double.
Starkie 20-1 (11-2) Led, headed 2 out, soon ridden and no extra, weakened entering straight, 5th of 6, well behind Mozoltov (11-2) at Punchestown 2m nov hdl Grade 2 (1) hvy in Feb.
Midnight Oil 5-1 (11-11) Led and disputed, bad mistake and headed 4th, tracked leaders after, ridden into 2nd at last, soon no impression on winner and kept on same pace, 2nd of 5, 2l behind Art Of Logistics (11-11) at Fairyhouse 2m hdl sft in Feb.
Sizing Jo'burg (IRE) 25-1 (11-0) Held up in touch, ridden and no impression on leaders from 3 out, went moderate 3rd 2 out, dropped to remote 4th run-in, 4th of 5, 47l behind Rule The World (11-3) at Naas 2m 4f nov hdl Grade 2 (1) in Jan.
