Verdict

Lake Volta is penalised for landing a double last year and went close at the All-Weather Championships at Lingfield in March. Savalas is also burdened with a 7lb penalty having won both starts so far this year and that should hand the advantage to BENGALI BOYS (NAP). Rated 102, he last won when scoring easily in soft ground at Newbury last summer and a recent second at Newcastle suggests Richard Fahey’s sprinter will be back to his best today. Meerpat and Brandy Station have little chance at the weights but are assured of some prize money while maiden winner Jonboy has plenty to prove though David Barron could have found an easier opportunity than this for his colt’s reappearance.
