Verdict

SAUCY BUCK should have this small-field maiden at his mercy with only Roodee Queen looking to have a chance to stop him while Holyhocks looks the best of newcomers. Having progressed in all three runs this season the selection only found a decent prospect form too from a yard in good last time. There is nothing of that standard here so it looks as though Mick Channon has found a good opportunity for his colt to get off the mark. Roodee Queen did improve from her first run before taking a backward step last time. She'll need to improve to beat the selection but it's far too early to write her off. Hollyhocks is related to some high-class sorts and has both speed and stamina in her pedigree so it will be interesting to see which comes to the fore. Mr Khan is the other newcomer in the race and is bred for sprinting so can go well and with Whipperoo needing to improve massively on his debut Saucy Buck looks the call.
