In depth

Verdict

There are plenty in with chances in this race, including Aintnecessarilyso, Calusa Lady, Pirlie Hill, Fonthill Road and Full Spate, but we are going to give another chance to Viewforth. The selection, who is a course and distance winner, was very unlucky not to score at Ayr three runs ago but then ran disappointingly when backed to make amends at Carlisle. Much as you can be forgiven for preferring to sidestep him today, given that he is now rated seven-pounds lower in the ratings than when scoring last August, surely he must be capable of going well, particularly over this six-furlong trip. Fonthill Road can be given a chance as he has also scored over course and distance, is fairly lightly-raced and will probably prefer this trip to the seven he ran over last time. Full Spate is also back to a competitive mark and ran pretty well at Windsor last time, Aintnecessarilyso has given the impression on his last two runs of coming to hand, Calusa Lady put in an improved effort at this trip last time and should have better to come and you can justifiably argue that Pirlie Hill and Smirfys Party are on favourable marks. With Indian Maiden and William's Well starting to look disappointing, once again, from our long shortlist, we have decided to stay loyal to Viewforth.
