In depth

Verdict

An intriguing race, with several of these lightly-raced juveniles having shown promise so far, but none of them really standing out; our vote just goes to Turkish Sultan, who may have most to fear from Amwaal and Asbury Park. Turkish Sultan made a pleasing debut, showing good speed throughout and only losing out inside the final furlong when runner-up at Thirsk. He then ran a similar race to fill the same position behi9nd the useful Stage Flight at Beverley, and a reproduction of that form might well be good enough here. John Dunlop's Amwaal was well supported on his debut at Doncaster that day, but showed a bit of temperament and finished well down the field behind Emirates Skyline. He fared better on his next outing, running second at York and a shade more improvement would give him a serious chance. Asbury Park showed ability when third over today's course and distance on his only start so far and Ed McMahon's colt is likely to be a leading contender, while it would be no surprise to see the likes of Boquilobo, Tennis Star and Sienna Storm improve on their debut efforts. The latter, trained by Mark Tompkins, ran reasonably well in a hot maiden at Newmarket and it would be no surprise to see this one feature in the finish. Risk Runner is likely to find this company a good deal tougher than when second at Chepstow last time, and we side with Turkish Sultan to get off the mark at the third time of asking.
