In depth

Verdict

Bertenbar was easy to back at Towcester three weeks ago but kept on well to score and has already won around here. He's now on a career-high mark, however. Betty Browneyes went off too quickly for her own good at Fakenham but could do better here if ridden with more restraint, while Chilbury Hill has been running well at this level and should give another good account. Alpha Way's wide-margin victory in a novices' handicap over 2m here last time was a big improvement on what he'd achieved previously, and he may not be able to reproduce that today, while Brimham Boy and Brousse En Feux have both been a little disappointing this season. SAWPIT SUPREME did a lot better at Uttoxeter last month and that form is standing up well. She's capable on her day and this looks well within her compass if she's on-song.
