Verdict

A big field and nothing leaps out in a competitive heat; narrow preference is for BALLINGADDY ahead of Manjam and the potentially well-handicapped Hiddensee. Alan King's gelding makes his seasonal reappearance this afternoon and this former point-to-pointer is expected to improve this year as he gains experience. The soft ground today shouldn't work against him and although the stable's runners have tended to need a run, this mark of 95 just looks too tempting to pass up. Giles Hawkins is attracting plenty of praise at the moment and he takes the ride again on Manjam who steps up in trip but escapes a penalty. Autumn Harvest's best runs on the flat would suggest that he is up to defying this mark of 96 on his handicap debut over hurdles. Noble Future needs a market check on his first start for 592 days; he has no problem with soft ground and is not one to take lightly. Free To Air has been given a chance by the handicapper, Saint Espiegle has a good young jockey onboard for this return to action, whilst the step up in tip should suit Gunnasayso. Talimos disappointed on his latest start at Exeter but if he handles this ground then he is of interest dropped in trip, whilst so is Hiddensee who represents a shrewd yard and a gambling owner and any market move should be picked up on. Not a race that will take much winning and it is Ballingaddy who can prosper.
