In depth

Verdict

Sam Patch's run in the first division will be a pointer to the chances of MELUA MAID, who beat him by seven lengths over 2m6f at Sedgefield last time. Sue Smith has her string firing on all cylinders and it may be worth sticking with her mare, who jumped really well at the Durham track considering her lack of experience. Sammy Spiderman has a bit to find with Beau Dandy on Ayr running in February but John Wade's gelding disappointed at Newcastle next time while Quinder Spring is proving expensive to follow. Seeking Power looks on the downgrade and Why Are You Asking will probably find at least one too good again.
