Last Shot continues to be thereabouts but has now had seven attempts to get off the mark over fences and gets little respite from the handicapper. Five Rivers was third over course and distance in the autumn but well beaten over a longer trip here last month while Midnight Macarena is still 5lb higher than when winning a weak race at Bangor in December. SMOKEY GEORGE won at Exeter in November and was only beaten seven lengths off his new mark at Wincanton subsequently, despite finishing sixth of the eight runners. This looks a good opportunity to get back on track, though the lightly-raced Twyford is worth noting if attracting market support.
