Verdict

PORTSIDE looks the most likely winner in what is an open enough contest. Alan King's yard is buzzing, this gelding has some solid form to bring to the party here and also acts well on the ground. First-time blinkers are also a positive as far as this judge is concerned and so we will side with him. Castlemainevillage is a thoroughly consistent sort who probably deserves to win more than he does, but nonetheless he keeps finding one or two too good. He returns here refreshed after a nice break and won't be far away. Gunnadoit hails from the in-form Neil King stable and ran well at Folkestone last time. The ground might not be ideal where he is concerned and so he is worth taking on. Romney Marsh disappointed last time when favourite after a couple of notable efforts prior to that. If he runs to his ability then some prize money awaits, though he has a bit to prove. Head To Kerry and Festive Chimes keep going up in the weights without winning, which is a concern, though that is not to say they can't win what is a poor race, but Portside gets the nod.
