Verdict

PURCELL'S BRIDGE and Shaun Dobbin proved a winning combination when scoring rather snugly at Carlisle over 3m1f last time and appeals as the sort to grow in confidence having got his head in front. He should not be inconvenienced by the modest drop in trip and can defy an 8lb rise in the weights to record back-to-back victories on ground the six-year-old is clearly at home on. Picks Milan represents Philip Kirby, who enjoyed a major handicap success at Sandown on Saturday, and the seven-year-old definitely provokes interest off a tempting mark after just a couple of runs, latterly when scoring at Carlisle in February. Not seen since, he would be dangerous to dismiss. Merrydown has ability but tends to find one too good, although he should be in the shake-up along with Irish raider Latin Connection and the consistent but exposed What A Steel.
