Verdict

Only 5 of the scheduled 14 runners have racing experience, and a very tentative selection is one of those with experience, Once A Gulch, in preference to Mazaris and debutant Pivka. Jeremy Noseda's colt showed up well on debut at Great Leighs in May, beating a number who've since enjoyed success. Further improvement could see him win this one. Mazaris is a Luca Cumani colt, who drops back in trip slightly from his Yarmouth debut in May, while Pivka is a debutant for Sir Michael Stoute and will no doubt attract some support. But with so many newcomers that could be anything, it's only a small stakes race, and we'll select Once a Gultch.
