In depth

Verdict

Annie Skates is the pick ahead of Island Vista and Stories Of Venice. Jane Chapple-Hyam's filly took plenty of organising on debut but looked to have some sort of a future in the game and an entry in this valuable contest can be considered high praise indeed. Bred to American stock, she should be able to cope with the switch to tonight's surface. Island Vista has an entry in the Fillies' Mile at Ascot next month. The breeding suggests that seven furlongs will be sharp enough on debut. Stories Of Venice has the services of Jamie Spencer from the saddle. The daughter of Barathea may need more time to be at her best. My Aunt Fanny is a half-sister to middle distance performer, Kingsholm and is watched in the market. Rowan Dancer is a half-sister to a number of former Jim Boyle runners but none of them were particularly prolific as juveniles so the percentage call is to oppose. Annie Skates caught the eye on debut and represents a fair yardstick at this grade.
