Verdict

Modun won last year's renewal and should be in the shake-up again but CALVADOS BLUES sports Godolphin's first colours. He returned to action with a decent second at Newmarket three weeks ago and last year's placed efforts at Meydan included a third in the Sheema Classic to the ill-fated Rewilding. A repeat of that form would make him the one to beat here but Sagramor will be no pushover. Hughie Morrison's colt went close at Deauville last time having chased home Carlton House in the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown before that. French raider Haya Landa has placed form in Group company and so does ex-German colt Arrigo, though he was tailed off at Newbury on his belated seasonal debut. Dandino is hard to win with nowadays so the tough Mijhaar may be best of the rest.
