In depth

Verdict

Henry Candy is double-handed, with the vote going to Doyles Lodge, while of the Hannon pair, Witchingham could be the one to give the selection most to do. Like Gold Flame, Doyles Lodge has an absence to overcome, but has that little bit more experience, having posted a fine fourth over six-furlongs at Windsor last September. The faster ground and step up in trip should both be in his favour, and he is taken to bounce back and open his account. In contrast, Witchingham drops back in trip after finishing fourth over an extended nine furlongs at Wolverhampton in January, and it could well be that his stablemate Nouveau will improve past him in time, being related to quite a few winners. Both Madam Vouvray and My Mentor could be anything, and the latter will certainly be of interest if sent handicapping in future, but for now we are happy to rely on Doyles Lodge.
