In depth

Verdict

Miss Phoebe showed improved form in a handicap last time out and is fancied to build on that effort this evening. Doctor Robert and Flash Of Colour rate as the biggest dangers, while newcomer Relative Strength would not need to be anything special to play a part on his debut. He is worth noting in the betting. Being by Derby winner Kris Kin, 10 furlongs ought not to be a problem on breeding but his obvious lack of experience has to be a concern, so he may simply be better once he has a run under his belt. Flash Of Colour, like the selection, seems to be getting the hang of things and has a race within him at some point. He does need to step things up another notch but, as there is little strength in depth, he has to merit serious consideration at this level. Doctor Robert has shown flashes of ability but has hardly been a punters friend. Winless from six previous starts, he looks flattered by his current mark and is not one to be diving in with at cramped odds. This is his first start for Tom Dascome and the son of Sakhee will need to drastically better his only previous All Weather effort if he is going to get off the mark here. Therefore, it can pay to side with Miss Phoebe, who looks worth a crack at this longer trip. Sylvester Kirk's filly stayed on powerfully to finish third here last week - creating the impression that a step up in distance would do her no harm whatsoever. Kirk has found her a weak race in which to prove her stamina, so Miss Phoebe looks a worthy sporting play at the likely odds.
