Pauvic is a sporting selection; while Figaro Flyer, Linda Green and Witchry all have sound claims and are shortlisted as the best alternatives. Witchry has run several good races in defeat of late and, as the handicapper has been slow to react with him, he could be well treated on these terms. He is one to seriously consider if he is backed before the off. Linda Green is consistent and is sure to run her race. However, she has never won off a mark this high before and a career best effort is required. Figaro Flyer has a habit of popping in when least expected and, considering that he won off 87 around this time last year, his rating of 74 cuts him plenty of slack. Even so, Middleham raider Pauvic makes a touch more appeal from a betting perspective, as he comes here a much fresher horse. The three-year-old has shown a liking for racing on the All Weather and, as a rare runner for Anne Duffield at this time of year; it will come as no surprise to see him at least pay for the travelling expenses down from North Yorkshire.
