Verdict

MISTER ROSS can complete his hat-trick at the main expense of Swift Gift and Orpenindeed. This is the best race of the meeting by some margin and has attracted a decent field. Mister Ross made quite an impression on his handicap bow and proved to be the proverbial handicap snip when following up under a penalty just a few days later. He's been given a deserved break since then and will need to improve to follow up in this company from a 9lb higher mark but he has enough scope to believe that he can do so. Swift Gift was quite well backed to win a warm heat at Lingfield at the weekend but he could only finish in midfield behind Atlantic Story. He gives the impression that there is more to come and makes the short-list. Bellomi is worth a look on his first start for Gay Kelleway, both Dingaan and The Kiddykid are capable of taking a hand in proceedings whilst cases can also be made for Stanley Goodspeed and Perfect Act. Orpenindeed needed to be dropped into claiming company to regain the winning thread but that simple victory may have well have done wonders for his confidence and he's competitive from his mark if that has done the trick. A good number to consider in a cracking heat but the progressive Mister Ross is taken to take the step up in class in his stride.
