Verdict

ZIGATO might be good enough to take this on debut ahead of Manxman and Heading To First. John Gosden has started the year well and had a debut winner on Sunday at Doncaster, as well as the winner of a reasonable maiden there on Saturday. This three-year-old colt is a half brother to Oaks winner Sariska and in a race where the form principles don't look much better than average he's taken to score at the first time of asking, with this trip set to be ideal on breeding and William Buick riding at the top of his game. Should our selection not live up to expectations then Manxman would be the most likely benefactor. Mark Johnston's horse looks set to benefit for this step up in trip, though the fact connections have come here in preference to taking the handicap route may suggest they don't feel he's quite worthy of a mark of 74. In any case, he should have enough ability to take a hand in the finish along with Heading To First. Clive Brittain has had a good start to the year and this son of Sulamani ran well over 1m4f at Lingfield last time behind a smart looking rival. The slight drop in trip is of some concern, but Seb Sanders will no doubt seek to make this a test and that can see his charge involved. Layla's Boy has claims from a ratings perspective but is a doubtful stayer over this trip, High On A Hill is better than he showed last time but still has to prove he's capable of taking a contest like this whilst Tappanappa needs to leave his debut behind although that's entirely possible. With the other four looking set to be outclassed, we'll return to Zigato who could be an above-average recruit.
