Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

The Osteopath, Gilded Youth, Fifty Cents, Thabaat and Den's Gift are the ones that we're interested in here with Clive Cox's runner preferred. Thabaat is the first to go as his trainer is really struggling for winners at present whilst this is Henry Candy's first runner since the start of January so Gilded Youth is best watched unless the market gives out the right signals. Fifty Cents was a talking horse last season but failed to walk the walk; it looks significant that connections are persevering with him and he is a potential handicap blot on the evidence of his sole juvenile start. In contrast, The Osteopath will need to produce a career best if he's to score under his penalty but he does have less to prove on the track than Fifty Cents. The selection has to prove himself on soft ground and his yard could be in better form but it's unlikely that we've seen the best of this one yet and Phillip Robinson is always a positive booking for the yard. He's run a couple of respectable races on the all-weather already this year but the return to turf should suit and Den's Gift is taken to resume winning ways.
