In depth

Verdict

Despite her penalty, Sirce is some way ahead of the handicapper and is taken to confirm Warwick superiority over Pocketwood, with Our Choice rated the best of the remainder. The selection made a winning return to turf when running out the five-length winner of a similar contest at Warwick last week and is set to go up 12lbs in future handicaps so, even under a 5lb penalty, can be considered to be 7lbs well in at the weights. Pocketwood is hard to recommend even on the revised terms and of more interest may be Nick Littmoden's Our Choice, who showed improved form on the all-weather last time and should not be inconvenienced by the return to turf. Mark Johnston's Fine Lady is of interest first time in a handicap and should appreciate today's longer trip and softer surface. John Dunlop's Asaateel and Amanda Perrett's Bulwark are others open to improvement, while a market move for Lynda Ramsden's Along The Nile would be of interest. Sirce is well treated though and she gets the vote.
