    Verdict

This is probably a decent maiden, despite the small field. Ptarmigan Ridge, placed in all four starts to date, steps up a furlong but has already achieved a handicap mark of 74, which is a pound higher than Chepstow second Mohsen. Spanish History was second over a mile at Ffos Las on his first run for Seamus Durack but GORHAM’S CAVE is even less exposed. Roger Varian’s Rock Of Gibraltar gelding is a half-brother to five winners and ran well on debut at Doncaster in July, despite showing signs of inexperience – he’ll know more today.
