A winner at Windsor in April, Spanish Bounty comes out best at the weights but is too unreliable to have much faith in and BARONS SPY looks a safer option. He won a handicap at Bath on Saturday and, though he seems to save his best for that track, this won't take much winning. Dorback is dropped in grade but has a few pound to find with the selection, while it's no surprise to see the once-useful sprinter Tamagin in this company as he's no longer the force of old. The remaining pair look up against it on today's terms.
Dorback 6-1 (9-2) Hampered start, behind, kept on in centre inside final furlong, never on terms, 10th of 12, 6l behind Joe Packet (9-7) at Windsor 6f hcp 0-95 (3) gs.
Tamagin (USA) 33-1 (9-12) Chased leaders stand side, weakened 2f out, last of 16, 23l behind Pepper Lane (9-5) at Ripon 6f hcp 0-95 (3) gd.
Barons Spy (IRE) 13-2 (9-6) Stumbled start, in touch, ridden and outpaced 3f out, headway under pressure on outer entering final furlong, ran on to lead final strides, won at Bath 6f hcp 0-85 (4) gf beating Restless Bay (8-13) by 1/2l, 9 ran.
