    Verdict

Chickenfortea seemed to appreciate cut in the ground when sticking on well to make all for a first career success at Catterick and should be a leading player on the soft ground off a 4lb higher mark. Eric Alston is a traditionally strong handler of sprinters and the Clodovil gelding has much in his favour but CANADIAN ROYAL is just preferred in receipt of 9lb. The Williams inmate displayed much better form when dropped back to this trip last time, going down by just a head to a well treated rival. The pair were clear of the rest and he looks on the upgrade at this ordinary level. Lightoller continues to perform well and is shortlisted along with bottomweighted Majestic Stone, in sound form of late.
