Verdict

FATCATINTHEHAT won a handicap on the Flat at Galway and was long odds-on to make a successful debut over hurdles at Clonmel but was beaten narrowly by Crouching Harry. He showed the benefit of that run when attempting to make all at Punchestown on New Year's Eve though he met the last flight all wrong when well clear and paid the penalty. He should gain compensation as Hazariban would have finished a long way behind in that latter race before staying on for second place. Ibsen, a progressive type on the Flat, made a very promising debut in a strong looking maiden here last month and will certainly improve for the experience while the useful Flat winner One Fine Day is capable of better than we've seen from her so far over hurdles.
