In depth

Verdict

A decent contest and several with a chance of sorts. The visored Shami is clearly not as good as connections had thought he was, for his entries in last years Great Voltigeur and St Leger, look wide of the mark. However, he cannot be left out of calculations at this level, while Invader looks in the grip of the Handicapper at present. The blinkers bought about improvement from Blackmail, who should go well again, without being quite good enough to win. On some lines of form Sienna Star has a chance second to none. He is effective under these conditions and should go well at a decent price, but the one they all have to beat is Gig Harbor, who has taken on a new lease of life since the turn of the year. This trip may be a little on the sharp side for him, but he does travel well in his races and providing there is no hanging around, he should outstay his rivals.
