In depth

Verdict

There can be no doubting that Haripur has been in tremendous form of late and he warrants plenty of respect despite top weight today. However, a further 3lb rise for narrowly holding off Waterside here twelve days ago may be enough to halt his progression now. Therefore it might be worth chancing Idle Power, who is better than his form figures would suggest and is more than capable of having an impact at this level. The five-year-old has not really shone so far this season but he has also been faced with some stiff tests since his return in April. However, he seems to come alive at this time of year and has finished in the money on both his previous visits to Lingfield. He does have a little to prove with regard to the surface today but his overall record gives him solid claims and the likelihood of a decent price allows us to him one more chance today. What A Dancer is another at the top of his game at the moment and he will not be far away if he runs up to be best. However, he will need to post a career best effort to prevail today. Major Speculation is interesting for a place with Frankie Dettori booked for the ride, but Idle Power is taken to surprise them all and end a frustrating period for his yard.
