In depth

Verdict

Halsion Chancer is the pick with Expensive Art and Dvinsky the alternatives. John Best's team are in reasonable nick at the moment and back to his favourite track, Halsion Chancer makes plenty of appeal. He would need to reverse form with Dvinsky on their Kempton run but he is better drawn than that rival today. The aforementioned Dvinsky is fresh from accounting for both Halsion Chancer and Expensive Art. He is a reliable servant who will give another solid account despite a poor draw. Expensive Art invariably promises plenty but she is a notoriously weak finisher. Hammer Of The Gods is a previous course-and-distance winner. With Dvinsky in the pack, he is unlikely to get the soft lead that seems to suit him best. Loch Star is interesting if he can bounce back to his form of last year. Titan Triumph has proved capable though disappointing. Chjimes has won well previously at the track and has to be a factor. He should be capable of maintaining form with Vintage. Veteran, Buy On The Red is a previous course winner and looks best of the rest. Halsion Chancer is our pick.
