Verdict

Flying Author and M'Lady Ermyn are easily dismissed but it's a close call between the remainder. Intermath sets the standard with a mark of 83 as he steps up a furlong after a second at Chester while it's too soon to write off previous Haydock winner Snow Squall despite finishing a well beaten third at Newmarket last time. Hiking scored easily on her racecourse debut over 6f at Windsor in June and should be thereabouts but she wears her owners second colours today which points to a big run from FAINTLY. The latter landed a maiden by seven lengths over track and trip last month and Amanda Perrett's colt gets the nod with more to come.
