In depth

Verdict

Izzykeen secures our vote in the nightcap ahead of Rift Valley and Alva Glen. Confirmed fast-ground lover Izzykeen looks likely to see his conditions on Saturday and while some may have questioned his resolution at Uttoxeter on his latest start, we are prepared to take him on trust against this opposition. Rift Valley is no stranger to winning races in the Summer and trainer Philip Hobbs has done well to exploit a favourable mark over hurdles vis-¿is his chasing form. The visor is also on today and he should give another good account. Alva Glen looks to have been sweetened up by the move to Bernard Llewellyn. That said, his track record rather travels before him and any wagers are made in the knowledge that he is prone to running shockers in among some of the better form he boasts. Ramblees Holly beat our selection at Hexham. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that he isn't quite so effective going right-handed so it is easy to envisage a reversal of that bare form. Masters of War has never justified any of the lofty reputation he has earnt himself in the past. Jonjo O¿Neill is starting to send out winners again so any market confidence is respected. A comment that equally applies to Qabas, who is far better than his most recent run around here would suggest. Izzykeen is our idea of the winner in the nightcap.
